Sarıkamış (A 8-6)
The lower end of a stele preserves the last 27 lines of an inscription of Argišti I. The fragment was found in 1878 by A. D. Jerizow, reused in the outer wall of a mosque in Sarıkamış in the province of Kars. It reportedly originated from ruins on a wooded ridge about 5 km outside Sarıkamış. The fragment measures 103 cm in height, 57 cm in width, and 28.5 cm in thickness. It was transferred to Tbilisi in 1881 and has been in the inventory of the Georgian Museum since 1891.

Translation:
“(1ʹ) . . . I conquered the city Ahuria, (3ʹ) from the territory of the land Ašṭuhini I went, a silo(?) […]. (4ʹ) all(?) [of the territory(?)] of the land Ašṭuhini I conquered; (6ʹ) from the land Etiuni … strong troops came to the frontier(?) (9ʹ) Argišti says: I prayed to the god Haldi, (11ʹ) the Weather-God, the Sun-God and (all) the gods; and the gods [li]stened to me. (13ʹ) I pushed back (the Etiuni) and expanded(?) to the territory of the city Qalbina (15ʹ) near to(?) . . . (t)here (16ʹ) [1]00 and x 20 . . . [1]50 [men?], 6200 women. (18ʹ) Through the great[ness] of the god Haldi I am Argišti, son of Minu[a], (20ʹ) strong [king], king of the Bia lands, (21ʹ) lord of Ṭušpa-City.
