Urartian Inscriptions of Muhrapert / Göründü

Muhrapert (A 3-3)

The roughly rectangular stone inscription was found at Muhrapert (now Göründü) on the southern shore of Lake Van, west of Gevaş, and was later transported to the nearby island of Ahtamar. Long missing, it was rediscovered by Rafet Çavuşoğlu in May 2006 on Ahtamar and was transferred to the Van Museum in recent years. The limestone block is 41 cm in height, 48 cm in width, and 4 cm in thickness.

Norkiuh (A 5-50)

The inscribed cornerstone was found by W. Belck in 1891 on the summit of a mound of boulders, apparently covering a grave at the foot of the mountains about ten minutes northeast of the church in the village of Norkiuh (now Hasbey) near Muhrapert (Göründü), on the south shore of Lake Van. It was later brought to the island monastery of Ahtamar. The stone is now on display in the Van Museum and measures 20 cm in height, 49 cm in width, and 29 cm in depth. It features a depression similar to those found on sacrificial stones and is inscribed on two sides, with only the two lower lines preserved on the second side.
