Urartian Inscription of Hazine Piri Gate

Hazine Piri Kapısı (A 2-5)

The 4-line Urartian inscription is written on a door-shaped niche, locally known as Hazine Piri Gate, which is carved into an isolated rock outcrop near Elmalık (Zivistan), south of the city of Van. The niche is about 1.5 meters high, 1.2 meters wide, and 8 cm deep. The center of the niche has suffered some damage at the hands of treasure seekers, but the inscription in the top section is largely intact. It dates to the reign of Išpuini.
